From the House of Stolichnaya comes Stoli’s Ginger Beer. This is very much a vodka company – producing a ginger beer makes sense (in a vertical market sort of way). The packaging of the Stoli Ginger Beer is ready with vodka mix recipes: various Mules, mixed with Stolichnaya brand vodka, naturally – but can this drink stand on its own?
The appearance is consistently cloudy (in a good way!) – otherwise, there are no ginger artifacts floating around like many other brews. The scent is sweet and simple and the brew is mildly carbonated.
The taste comes across as sweet and uniform. There is not a lot of complexity or progression in the flavor, aside from a slight dry aftertaste – there is some spice though – I wasn’t sure if it was from the ginger or the carbonation. I didn’t get a resolution to that mystery as it wasn’t particularly impacting. True to its word, Stoli is best served as a mixer – not as a standalone drink. It’s consistent flavor profile will help accentuate the vodka (or whatever spirit you prefer) rather than overpower it.
