GINGER BEER (or GINGER BREW) is a naturally sweetened and typically carbonated beverage. Unlike ginger ales, which is spices added to carbonated water, Ginger Beer is brewed and naturally carbonated. The prevailing concept is that brewed Ginger Beer originated in England in the mid-18th century – Despite the name, the majority are non-alcoholic, but some alcoholic varieties do exist. Our drink is produced by the natural fermentation of ginger spice, yeast, and some form of sugar. While a few still brew their Ginger Beers, most commercially available beverages are manufactured instead. Often a Ginger Beer will serve as a mixer in a cocktail such as the Moscow Mule or the Dark ‘n Stormy… but I still prefer to drink mine straight up.
